UPDATE!!!

Bonnie, one of the two surviving puppies that were found under an abandoned house in South Carolina with their mother Jessie, has been adopted. Here she is with her new family. Her brother Clyde is considerably smaller. He has failure to thrive syndrome, but is otherwise healthy and after a little more time with a foster family he too will be ready for adoption.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation sponsored this family of strays through our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue. Our sponsorship paid for heartworm treatment for Jessie and for the puppies father James who was found when he came to check on Jessie and her puppies. Our sponsorship also paid for all four to be neutered and spayed.

Jessie and James have completed their heartworm treatment and they will be available for adoption through Home for Good in a week or two.

Original Story

Jessie is a stray, probably a Lab mix, who was found under an abandoned house in Conway, S.C. James is the father and he was found when he made one of his visits to the house to see how Jessie and the puppies were making out. All are now safe in the hands of our partners, Home for Good Dog Rescue, at their care facility in Aiken, S.C.

Jessie is still weak. Both she and James were underweight and malnourished and both have heartworm disease. Only two of the puppies survived, one girl, Bonnie, and one boy, Clyde. They are nursing and the HFG staff is bottle feeding them to supplement what Jessie can provide.

We are sponsoring this family of dogs in memory of our founder, Bill McIntyre, who passed away last month. Our sponsorship we provide the funding for the heartworm treatment and to spay and neuter all four.

Jessie will continue to nurse the puppies until they are six weeks old which will be around Christmastime. After that she will get the heartworm treatment which lasts for about two months.

Once healthy all will be transported to New Jersey where they will be placed with one of HFG’s foster families until they are adopted.

Home for Good Dog Rescue is a foster-based rescue based in Berkeley Heights, N.J. They have saved more than 7,000 dogs from kill shelters in the South during their eight years of existence.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity that helps rescued dogs get the medical treatment they need to recover and get adopted. 100% of the funds donated to the foundation are used to help dogs like Jessie, James and their family.
