and his beloved dog Tess.

Why This Was Our Best Year Ever

Family with their dog

2021 was the best year ever for the Tess McInytre Foundation. Why? Because of all the happy smiling faces we saw of families who adopted healthy loving dogs. Dogs who previously had been abandoned or abused or injured.

In our sixth year, we were able to support more dogs than ever before. We worked with more partners. And we saw more dogs head off to a second chance in life with their new families. What made it all possible was the generosity of our donors.

In 2021 we funded three operations to correct Entropion, a condition in which a dog's eyelids are inverted, irritating the eyes and potentially leading to blindness. We’ve helped pay to remove tumors, correct genetic conditions and relieve intestinal blockages. We paid for numerous treatments for heartworm, mange and infections and all the dogs we supported were neutered.

What happened to these animals? Some, like Banjo in South Carolina, ended up in kill shelters where they would have been euthanized. Others, like Lisa in Georgia., suffered from having been overbred. Cookie, in Southern California, was living with a family that couldn’t afford to pay for the surgery she needed. Hayden, in Missouri, was dumped by a breeder that had no use for him because of his genetic conditions. Cleo, in South Carolina, had been the victim of a hoarder.

All of these dogs were rescued by our partners, including Home for Good Dog Rescue of Berkeley Heights, N.J., Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue of Los Angeles and Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies in Denver. They contacted us to help finance the care these dogs needed. Many local veterinarians provided their services at discounted rates. Eventually, with the corrective treatments and the care our partners and their foster families provided, these dogs found themselves in comfortable and caring homes.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity. All administrative functions are handled on a volunteer basis so 100% of the donations made to the foundation go to helping dogs like the ones mentioned above.

A donation to the foundation will not only serve as a deduction on your 2021 tax return, but it will give more dogs a second chance in life and give more families a healthy, loving companion in their homes.
