Harvey is only 2-1/2, but he’s already experienced a lifetime’s worth of troubles. He and another retriever mix Tilden lost their home in South Carolina when their owner had to go into hospice. The two of them ended up living outside chained to a tree. To make matters worse, Harvey was attacked by an unknown animal and received a severe bite on the side of his face.

We are, however, happy to report that things are looking up for this guy, who has remained a friendly and playful dog despite his travails. Now in the care of our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue of Berkeley Heights, N.J., Harvey has been to the vet and had his wounds repaired. He is now in Home for Good’s Aiken, S.C., facility where he is being treated with antibiotics. Soon Harvey will be transported to New Jersey where one of HFG’s foster families will look after him until his adoption.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is sponsoring Harvey by making a significant donation to HFG to help cover the costs of his medical treatments and aftercare.

Working through partners like HFG, the foundation, based in La Quinta, Calif., raises funds to support rescue dogs who need some medical care to be ready for adoption. A 501(c)3 charity, it was founded in 2015. Donations to the foundation will help us support more dogs like Harvey.
