Lola was found walking the streets of Los Angeles County last month. She was taken by animal control to a local shelter where she was found to have kennel cough, several broken teeth and a tumor on one of her mammary glands. Since no one claimed her, she would have been euthanized had she not been rescued by out partners Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue. They picked her up and found a foster home for her.
Since then, Lola’s list of medical issues has grown. Aside from antibiotics for the kennel cough, she was having trouble breathing as the infection went into her sinuses. She had five teeth extracted but after a couple days the stitches opened up and had to be redone. And the tumor that was attached to her mammary gland proved to be cancerous. The veterinarian who performed the surgery is confident he got all of it.
The Tess McIntyre Foundation is supporting Lola by paying her medical expenses, including the dental work and removal of the tumor.
This sweet Chocolate Lab is now recovering in the home of the SCGRR foster and we hope to see a happy and healthy dog in the near future, getting a second chance and a long life. Donations to the Tess McIntyre Foundation help us help more dogs like Lola.
