COOKIE

Lola

Cookie is one of six unwanted puppies turned over to the Barnwell County (N.C.) Animal Shelter. Our partners at Eleventh Hour Rescue agreed to take the whole family and they were soon on their way to New Jersey.

While all six puppies appeared to be in good health, Cookie vomited when he was fed. When given water he vomited again. Upon further observation he seemed lethargic and unsteady on his feet, falling over when he tried to walk. A trip to an emergency animal hospital resulted in a parvovirus test and some bloodwork. Fortunately everything came back negative and the vet prescribed fluids and nausea medication.

After a night in the hospital, Cookie became more alert and active. He was released and is now with an Eleventh Hour foster where he continues to improve. His vets believe the problem arose from stress related to his transport and new environment.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation provided funds to help offset the cost of Cookie’s testing, medication, hospitalization and care. A full recovery and an adoption to his forever home is expected soon.
