Bree is a Golden Retriever who had been acquired from a breeder and who had lived a comfortable life in a loving home for her first three years. Bree, however, developed a limp which kept getting worse and upon examination was found to have torn anterior ligaments in both knees. This is a condition which can be traced to overbreeding.
Bree’s owner, a retired person, could neither afford the cost of the two surgeries she would need nor be able to manage the lengthy recovery process. The owner made the difficult decision to turn Bree over to our partners at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) so she could get the care she needed.
The Tess McIntyre Foundation is supporting Bree by providing funding to help offset the cost of her surgeries and care.
Bree is currently in a GRRR foster home. She is being treated by Colorado Canine Orthopedics. Her first surgery has been performed and was a success. Because of the amount of inflammation, a biopsy was performed and we are still awaiting the results. Once Bree has recovered from the first surgery, a process that will take several weeks, she will have surgery on the other knee.
We’re glad to be able to help this lovely girl recover her mobility. Donations to the Tess McIntyre Foundation will help us to help more dogs like Bree.
